“Clean Water for Schools” in Rao Con Village, Quang Binh
Reliable access to potable drinking water and foundational sanitation infrastructure remains an essential prerequisite for child development, classroom retention, and community resilience in remote highland regions. Situated within the buffer zone of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, Rao Con village in Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, is an isolated mountain settlement inhabited exclusively by the Bru–Van Kieu ethnic minority. The local satellite school provides basic education for 51 primary and lower-secondary students alongside resident teachers living on-site. Lacking connectivity to municipal utility networks, the school relied entirely on raw surface water channeled through gravity hoses from nearby mountain streams, exposing children to heavy sediment, mineral runoff, and microbial pathogens that caused recurring gastrointestinal illnesses and school absenteeism.
In July 2026, the LuxGroup Foundation inaugurated the “Clean Water for Schools” community project at Rao Con Village School, delivering an integrated infrastructure and welfare package. Engineers installed a centralized, multi-stage water filtration and purification plant tailored specifically to highland stream hydrology. The system incorporates sediment filtration, activated carbon adsorption, fine particulate barriers, and advanced disinfection units to convert raw stream water into certified, potable drinking water connected directly to school taps and teacher accommodations. Alongside infrastructure commissioning, the foundation distributed comprehensive educational supplies, including textbooks, supplementary literature, stationery kits, warm clothing, and sports equipment directly to all 51 pupils.
The operational water purification plant provides a continuous supply of safe drinking and domestic water, eliminating primary vectors for waterborne disease, improving health baselines, and encouraging consistent student attendance. Furthermore, the foundation instituted a transparent in-kind donation protocol that enables international travel partners, clients, and employees to contribute verified educational materials. The project reflects Lux Travel DMC’s core conviction that luxury tourism in central Vietnam must directly generate tangible social value for the vulnerable ethnic communities stewarding regional biospheres.
